Meeting Potential Partners from China

On January 8, representatives from Beijing Rock Education Technology Development Co., Ltd. arrived in Ventspils for a visit to Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VeUAS). Its CEO Qin Yanwei, who had come together with her husband, represented the company.

Maija Kurte, member of the Board of SIA Linearis IBC International Business Consulting – a VeUAS cooperation partner – led the establishment of contacts between VeUAS and the company, while Mary Zhang helped with the communication. Mary is an architect, as well as member of the Board of Latvia – China Association of Culture. The association unites people and organizations from different cultural and art backgrounds to combine resources and create a platform for promotion of awareness and popularity of Latvian and Chinese cultures.

During the meeting, the guests introduced themselves and their fields of operation, emphasising international cooperation in student exchange, language teaching, scouting of partner universities, receiving Chinese delegations in Latvia, Chinese language proficiency testing, etc.

VeUAS Rector Kārlis Krēsliņš introduced the guests with the university, its existing cooperation with and within the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the future plans. For both VeUAS and the city of Ventspils, the cooperation with the PRC is of utmost importance, especially through strengthening existing ties and attracting new partners, who can facilitate the entrance to and strengthening the position in one of the largest markets for potential students in the world.

At the moment, VeUAS has established cooperation with Ningbo University and Zhejiang Wanli University in China. With the widening of the range of study courses, VeUAS is the first educational establishment in the western part of Latvia to offer the possibility to study the basics of the Chinese language, as well as become acquainted with Chinese society, culture and traditions with teacher Ling Pan.
