The representative of FH KREMS University of Applied Sciences Jens Peter Ennen visited Ventspils University College as admission officer for the new double diploma master programme “International Business and Export Management.” He is interviewing those, who have applied for this study programme. “International business and Export Management” meets the highest Austrian quality standards in education. The new academic year at Ventspils University College kicked off on the 1st of September, and it’s going to be more international than ever. We are happy to welcome 15 Erasmus+ students from France, Spain, Germany and Turkey for the autumn semester. Putting theory into practice: my Erasmus+ experience as a student of Intercultural Communication


How I found my Erasmus challenging and why I advise every student to take this challenge? Written by Nadine, 3rd year Languages and Intercultural communication student.

In February 2016 my friend and I, both 2nd-year students of Intercultural Communication headed to Bilbao, Spain to spend a semester there. By that time we had a basic level of Spanish, enough theoretical knowledge of interpersonal and intercultural communication, some ideas about Spain, its history, people and traditions, and an enormous wish to try something new. With all this baggage, plus the experience we gained during the year we had spent in Latvia as international students, we were looking forward to plunging into the unknown. Finally, we could apply our theoretical knowledge and practice languages. One thing we didn’t consider well enough – getting to know a different culture is always a challenge. But it’s a challenge worth taking.

Ventspils University College team participated in the annual Ventspils city parade


Saturday, August 6 our beautiful Ventspils was celebrating its 726th anniversary. Their festive parade has already become an annual tradition and Ventspils University College (VUC) has also been participating in it.  Lasīt vairāk

On June 18, 2016 in the theatre house “Jūras Vārti” the graduation ceremony of Ventspils University college was held. Diplomas were given to 137 graduates – 118 of which got the bachelor’s degree and 19 master’s degree. Lasīt vairāk


Cooperation has been developed with universities in the People’s Republic of China


From June 8-11, 2016 Ventspils University College (VUC) rector Gita Rēvalde participated in China – Central and Eastern European Country educational cooperation and the higher educational exhibition in the People’s Republic of China in Ningbo city. Hockey Connects American with Latvian Culture


In less than two weeks Ventspils University College will be saying farewell to our American Fulbright Scholar Meredith Chait.  Meredith Chait not only taught English to students in Ventspils, she also found ways to connect with youth on the ice.

Meredith Chait, “When people ask me about coaching hockey in Latvia, I usually reply, “It is a disaster.” But let me clarify, it is a disaster in the United States, too. Anytime you have a group of 20 boys under the age of 6 together it is chaos in any county.  Lasīt vairāk
